I used to stutter when I got upset, I still may, I don’t know. When I would explain to the kids what it was that was making me upset, I would try not to yell, but sometimes I would stutter. Once they were of school age, when I began to talk with a stutter, that was enough to make the kids stop what they were doing and say, “Oops, Mommy’s getting upset. What’s wrong, Mommy?” I would tell them what it was about their behavior that upset me, and they would change what they were doing or how they were doing it. True story.
Treat your kids with kindness and respect and they will treat you with kindness and respect.
