“I believe in God, and I believe that God believes in Claude, that’s me.”
Is a quote from the song The Flesh Failures (Let the Sunshine In) from my musical Hair. I wrote the song exactly 50 years ago. It should be considered as a song of Peace, Love and Happiness, and labeled an anti-war song.
The lyric – ‘I believe in God, and I believe that God believes in Claude, that’s me.’ Was labeled blasphemy and every other thing, by small-minded bigots. Some churches wouldn’t allow their parishioners to listen to the music or go to the play. I wonder about those men who call themselves men of God in order to control lives that aren’t their own.
I believe we should all have the mantra – I believe in God, and I believe that God believes in me.
We are made in God’s image, so have pride and believe in yourself – God does. God knows we’re all capable of great things. He has given us gifts beyond our wildest imaginings. Some people think I’m special and can do things others can’t. I’m here to tell you I can do things others can but don’t even try.
George Lucas and I have talked about the Force. A series of events, orchestrated by the Moocs, happened to Mr. Lucas that prevented us from making the movie – the Force Awakens – together. What we were going to do was to say –
God is Creative Energy. All things are made of energy. There is energy in us. Our personal energy can tap into that ever-present network of energy, including God’s energy. That is the Force.
The Moocs, and some organized religions don’t want human beings to know how powerful we are because they would lose control. That was the story-line of The Force Awakens before it was hijacked by JJ Abrams, Disney and Moocs, because once the Force awakens in all of us, they loose power.
As a side note, as far as organized religion is concerned, George Lucas and I like Buddhism and we believe Christ is God. I checked that belief with the Dalai Lama, he’s fine with it. He said, “I always thought Jesus was a Buddhist.”
