The Military must create an employment agency as part of the military for retiring vets. Three, or so, months prior to retirement put your name with the agency and receive a weekly listings of jobs that match your interest. Hire people who teach resume writing and interviewing skills, and life skills to teach how things work in the private sector.
Also as an assurance vets will get care and support after they leave. A like-minded support system for vets who have been in the war; and food stamps and rent vouchers are critical to a begin a new and happy life.
What would have to happen, when a soldiers decide they won’t re-enlist they could have questions to answer, Like will they need to live near a VA hospital. VA hospitals and clinics have to stay as government entities for now for reasons I will explain at another time.
Voluntary Questions might include –
Hobbies and Interests
Proximity to Medical care or Hospital
Desire to live in a community
Desire to join a hobby club
Favorite activities and sports
Take into consideration Desire to live in a community, Desire to join a hobby club or team, Carpentry skills, etc.
Real Estate Developers can designate communities where vets and their families can live near VA Medical and Mental Health clinics. They would have social groups like Creative Parenting and clubs of interest and a gathering park in the center with a pavilion.
Cities with depressed areas can donate the area to groups of vets. VA clinics could also take over buildings to rehab.
So, let’s say you get a bunch of artists who have some carpentry skills and would like to live in a city. And you have a city with an area that needs work. They could have that area as their project. Usually the area needs entrepreneurs to start businesses. No interest Loans and new business training should be available to those wanting to start a business. The neighborhood could be turned into a desirable area. I’ve seen it happen.
Soldiers are trained to work as a team. Living in proximity with other former military – near physical and mental healthcare – is key to moving on.
Currently, the money that is supposed to be allocated to the VA gets funneled into Mooc’s pockets. Moocs want people to think the VA doesn’t work because they want to privatize that system.
Anyway, this is something the Military Budget can easily handle.
The idea sounds difficult but it’s simple. I’d be happy to work out the kinks and make a working model because I think it’s a disgrace that the US is THE HOMELESS OF THE BRAVE.
