Why not eat horses? The US routinely kills horses on the plains and in the desert and leaves their carcasses to rot and be fed on by vultures and coyotes. I may be wrong about coyotes because they kill live prey. At any rate, the animals are routinely killed and left. There are also the estrogen manufacturers that use pregnant mare urine. The mares live their entire lives in a stall where they can’t move and can’t lie down and are hooked into a catheter that collects their urine. Very often when the foal is born it is culled, which is just another word for killed out of the womb. They’re not allowed to breathe their first breath. Why not raise them until their year-old and use them for their meat? Tens of Millions of dogs and cats in the US are killed every year and their bodies are discarded. That’s a lot of meat. I believe we should begin making jerky out of any meat available. It’s idiotic to think that we can’t eat any animals except cows, pigs, chickens and sheep and once in a while a goat or turkey.
Eight times more animals die in natural disasters as humans, and all of their remains cause disease. Most other countries eat dogs, cats and horses. It seems the US has an aversion to eating pussy.
Our aversion to eating animals that we’ve named, or potentially could named (if we’d only captured that wild horse ourselves and tamed him), is just wrong. It keeps us dependent on beef and chicken. Our supply of beef is so badly mutilated that it is hardly safe to eat. When the cows or steer beef are ready to be slaughtered they go to feeding lots. These are unhealthy, unsafe areas that the animals are penned into and are fed and shot with so many drugs that they would die within days if they weren’t killed first.
We are eating poison and hormones and an animal that’s been force-fed grains that aren’t good for it. The new GMO corn is unhealthy, not at all nutritious, good for nothing, and now is the only corn available.
Have you seen feeding lots? They’re disgusting; they smell so putrid that you could almost vomit as you drive past. The animals live in their own filth, head to butt, with so many other animals waiting to die. The lots are rife with disease. Sometimes you can smell the staph infection that an animal will not have a chance to die from, because he will be killed first. But not to worry because the poison he’s being fed will kill healthy cells as well as staph cells! Often, cattle will have their heads stuck in the barbed wire that surrounds the feeding lot because there’s never enough room, so an animal will stick his head through the barbed wire and get caught. I seriously doubt any animal gains any weight in a feeding lot. I want to see proof! So now I believe Deeta when she said that the only purpose of those lots is to make the American people sick and get heart disease and diabetes from eating beef.
Probably beef, itself, is not bad for you. But it’s the additives that are force-fed and shot into those animals just before they’re killed that’s bad for you. I remember years ago eating steak and feeling better. I was getting protein. No more. I eat steak and feel worse.
I’d like to see grass fed – no feeding lot – no medications or chemicals for one month prior to death, meat.
I think horse meat would be much better for me, and for the country, and for the world. World starvation is a real threat. We can’t continue to be snobbish about what we eat.
